Artist Statement:

I use my art as a means of self-reflection and a platform to challenge societal perceptions of femininity and queerness. My life-size nude self-portraits are centered around the intersection of these identities, exploring the complex relationship between societal constructs and personal experience. I am interested in how society objectifies femininity. In order to explore this, I objectify myself in my work. I view my figures as objects that I can manipulate into uncomfortable or absurd situations that exploit societal norms that feminine women are feminine as a result of their heterosexuality. The choice to leave the background of my paintings simple serves as an invitation to viewers, urging them to engage directly with the subject. In my art, I am both the subject and the creator, taking control of the narrative to examine the discomfort society often associates with the connection between femininity and queer women.
