New Intern: Julia Conley

Meet Julia Conley, one of the new interns on staff at the Van Every/Smith Galleries!

Julia Conley is a Junior communications major at Davidson College from Atlanta, Georgia. She wanted to work in the gallery because she wants to pursue curatorial/gallery work after college, and believes the gallery is the best place to start!

Who is your favorite artist?

“I have many, in particular Basquiat, Mary Ellen, and Wooyoun Lee.”

What is your earliest memory of art?

“My earliest memory of art is learning to paint with watercolors in kindergarten with my favorite teacher Ms. Annie.”

What is your favorite piece of art on campus?

“My favorite art piece on campus is the Herb Jackson painting in the VAC lounge. I love the colors used in it and its abstract form.”

What is your favorite part about working in the art gallery so far?

“I love exploring the Davidson art collections, we have so many amazing art pieces!”

What are you most excited to do in the art gallery or in art in general this semester?

“I’m excited to learn more about the inner-workings of an art gallery and work with the other interns!”
