New Intern Introduction – Gabi Sarussi

Gabi Sarussi

Name and hometown?
Gabi Sarussi and I’m from Scottsdale, Arizona

Class year and major/minor?
I’m a senior Economics major and Studio Art minor.

Did you do anything this summer or during quarantine related to the arts?
This summer I had my first major commission for a painting, and started a personal art Instagram account. Follow me here for a look at what I’m currently up to! @gold.finch.designs

Why were you interested in interning with the galleries?
I’m really interested in pursuing a career within gallery/museum work after I graduate from Davidson, and always love being surrounded by artists and art.

What role does art play in your life as a Davidson student? Do you see art playing a role in your life post-Davidson?
As I mentioned above, I’m an art minor here at Davidson, and my favorite space on campus is the VAC. And I do hope to continue art post-grad whether that is in my job or always finding time to paint/create.

Favorite sculpture on campus and why?
My absolute favorite sculpture is Jaume Plensa’s Waves III. I love the sitting position of the man in conjunction with the transparent nature.

Hobbies?
Other than art, I have recently begun playing tennis, getting outside in any way possible is very important to me (hiking, running, biking), and I always enjoy a good book.

Little known fact about you?
I can sing almost every part of Hamilton.

If you could have a meal with anyone dead or alive who would it be and why?
Emma Stone— I’m a big fan and would love to chat about La La Land, etc.
