Caroline Sillars is a Sophomore at Davidson College from New Orleans, Louisiana. She is an intended art history major, and wanted to work in the gallery to explore the different careers she could go into with an art history degree and to explore more of Davidson’s art collection.

Learn more about Caroline:

Who is your favorite artist?

“I like Frida Kahlo! She uses art to convey her own experiences and culture to the world.”

What is your earliest memory of art?

“When I was 8 years old my mom took my sister and I to France, and we went to Monet’s house. I remember begging her to buy me a print of Water Lilies. I actually still have it!”

What is your favorite piece of art on campus?

“I like the Common Ground stick work sculpture. I think it’s really cool when you can interact with art!”

What is your favorite part about working in the art gallery so far?

“I’ve enjoyed being able to look at the art that comes in for exhibitions and in the collection. It’s really cool to analyze art up close.”

What are you most excited to do in the art gallery or in art in general this semester?

“I really enjoy going to art museums, so I’m excited to get into the behind the scenes of organizing a gallery showing.”
