Davidson College is completing the installation of the newest addition to the Campus Sculpture Program's garden outside E.H. Little Library. This work, The Group of Ten by Polish sculptor Magdalena Abakanowicz,  is the latest addition to Davidson's Permanent Art Collection.  Abakanowicz's work can be found in major museums and public collections all over the world.  A public dedication will take place on campus on Thursday, March 29 at 4:30 p.m. The dedication will feature remarks by President Carol Quillen. Herb Jackson is a Southerner and polite. So when someone in a worried tone asks him what ever will he do now that he’s retiring, he says softly, “I have plenty to do.” What he’s thinking – and is too well-mannered to say – is, “Have you not noticed what I’ve been doing for the last 50 years?” What the Davidson College professor has been doing – and will continue to do after retiring in May – is making art.
