Woodblock Printing with Tom Farris

March 31 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Join us in the Missy Boaz Woodward ’73 Atrium for a woodblock printing event with artist, Tom Farris. Ferris a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and Otoe-Missouria tribe, draws inspiration from his culture and life-long immersion in the breadth of American Indian artistic traditions. His work celebrates the intersections between Indigenous aesthetics and pop art, particularly that of comics and contemporary culture. His work – often humorous, always smart – invites viewers to question the boundaries of what is “American Indian” art and appreciate the impact of Indigenous influences on pop art.

Location: Missy Boaz Woodward ’73 Atrium, VAC

This program is a part of Dúta Bahiisere Kus Rá’here (We Know Corn Together), a collaboration between the departments of Biology and History, the Farm at Davidson College, Van Every/Smith Galleries, and the Catawba Nation. Contact CatawbaCollaboration@davidson.edu with any questions.
