POSTER - PICTURE - POST: A Community Collaboration

Renowned photographer Mitch Epstein and author Susan Bell introduce their new poster campaign that will be on view throughout Davidson and the greater Charlotte Metro region. It is an extension of their website and successful billboard projects in Cincinnati and Columbus. WHATISAMERICANPOWER.COM POSTER: Local volunteers will be given specially-designed posters to mount in public spaces (legally and/or with permission, of course). POST: Share pictures on the Davidson College Art Galleries facebook page as part of an extensive online gallery.

This dynamic exhibition of recent photography explores the complex interplay among personal, social, political, and economic forces in rural and urban America. Particular attention is directed at the necessary yet uneasy relationship that exists between power utilities and the public that they serve.

Numerous large-scale photographs will be on view by preeminent contemporary artists including Dru Donovan, Mitch Epstein, Gail Albert Halaban, David Hilliard, Lisa Kereszi, Ryan McGinley, Andrew Moore, Alex Prager, Victoria Sambunaris, and David Taylor.
