Lunch-and-Learn with Dr. Robert Carter: Catawba Ethnobotany

September 24 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

The Catawba Indian Nation developed a deep connection with the land they’ve lived on for over fourteen thousand years. Their connection is so deep their name for themselves is Ye Iswa, (People of the River).

Join us for a lunch-and-learn with Dr. Robert Carter, Outdoor Education Coordinator and Clemson Extension Agent, who researched and compiled Catawba Nation Ethnobotany, detailing the variety of uses for plants the Catawba grew and had access to.

This program is part of Dútα Bαhiisere Kus Ráˀhere, a collaborative project that nurtures a reciprocal and generative relationship between Davidson College and the Catawba Nation. Dútα Bαhiisere Kus Ráˀhere means “We Know Corn Together” in the Catawba language.

To attend this event, RSVP to Dr. Rose Stremlau.
