Frank Poor’s two- and three-dimensional mixed media works will be exhibited in the Van Every Gallery of the Belk Visual Arts Center through March 1. Using personal photographs of southern vernacular architecture, namely from Georgia (where the artist was raised) and Hale County, Alabama (a location associated with much of Walker Evans’ depression-era photographs), Poor’s work breathes new life into old experiences. Poor will deliver a lecture at 5:00 p.m. in the Semans Auditorium, followed by an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 31. There is no charge to attend.
