Lia Newman is the Director and Curator of the Van Every/Smith Galleries. She graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in General Studio, with Concentrations in Sculpture and Photography and a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Duke University. She came to Davidson from Artspace, Inc., in Raleigh, where she served as Director of Programs and Exhibitions from 2002-2012.

Rosemary Gardner is the Assistant Curator of the Van Every/Smith Galleries. She received her B.A. in English Literature from Queens University of Charlotte. Following graduation, she worked at the Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography & Film. Prior to joining the staff of Davidson College, she spent 5 years working with a commercial photography studio in Charlotte, NC.
